Kritik \ KRIH-tick \ noun: 1) The German word for “critique.” 2) An argument that challenges a certain mindset, assumption or premise. 3) A definitive online publication for college students.
If you’re looking for yet another dry compilation of recent news or yawn-inducing music reviews, you came to the wrong place. We’re also not looking to preach to the choir—so if you’re faint-of-heart, either buck up or find a therapist. Kritik Magazine is an acidic and incisive online publication for college students, not the Ladies Home Journal. While a particular story may present multiple viewpoints, our writers will avoid half-hearted attempts to disguise their opinion. They have been commissioned to express their ideas in an unmistakably candid and humorous fashion; we hope you will enjoy reading the resulting content as much as we enjoy writing it.
If you disagree or have something to add, go right ahead. Our site is strategically ordered to facilitate your input. Perhaps together we can connect the vast and discombobulated world of college life and education by discouraging mediocrity, encouraging excellence, and exposing opportunities. We plan to do our part by addressing both the practical and intellectual components of college, career and culture. Our mission is to present a definitive internet publication that enables students to maximize their academic experience through a well-researched critique of its encompassing culture and education.

Founder and Publisher
For Aaron Olmstead, Kritik was the next best thing to becoming a rock climbing tramp. Guess you could say that we saved him, but that’s not the way he looks at it. As he finishes his B.A. in journalism, we’re pretty confident that his future is here. As to his particular skill set…well, the truth is that he came up with the whole concept and recruited a crack team to see it realized. Aaron previously interned with the National Geographic Society.
Editor-in-chief
It’s generally known that Jennifer Carden is destined for great things—which we now know to be Kritik, of course. If you appreciate the aesthetic appeal of our site or find a story especially witty, Jennifer was more than likely responsible. Her graphic design skill speaks for itself, and she seems to have a clever and humorous way of articulating something that leaves the rest of us feeling hackneyed. She, too, is finishing up her Bachelor’s in Journalism and previously interned at the National Journalism Center.
Deputy Editor
Mostly we just keep David Sessions around for his good looks and charming ways. But on top of that, he’s a pretty swell writer and seems to know the online magazine business. He’s the sort of well rounded fellow that is fundamental to our existence – capable as a journalist, a graphic designer and all-around web guru. The four years he spent studying journalism as well as a previous internship at Slate don’t hurt anything either.
Webmaster
As far as geeks go, Caleb Christopher is one of the most used and abused. Creating and maintaining a site like this is no small ordeal, especially with countless requests from the resident OCD for “two px more space?” But he does it all with a flourish. Having majored in business, he’s the odd man out. No doubt, it will be helpful to have someone around that knows how to do something besides write.
